Armstrong India was established in 1959 through Joint Venture (JV) with INARCO. Eventually, the JV was dissolved and independent operations began in 1999. Currently, the company operates in different business spaces including flooring, plywood and ceilings among others. With a total number of 115 people, with 9 depots and offices in 10 different locations, the Company claims to have 70 percent market share in its overall businesses. According to the company, in the modular ceilings division alone, Armstrong grabs 75 percent market share. Armstrong India is now headed by Mr. Arjun Shahani, Managing Director who joined the organization last year.

The core business in India focuses on providing customers with flooring and ceiling products such as, Vinyl Composite Tile, Vinyl Sheet Flooring, Luxury Vinyl Tile/ planks, Linoleum, Laminate, Hard wood, Mineral Fibre, Metal Tiles & Planks, Wooden laminated ceilings, Designer Ceilings, Soft Fibre, Optra, Acoustical Wall panels and Suspension systems.
Armstrong offers over 1500 range of products and it is a forerunner in environmentally friendly initiatives. Armstrong India is the founder member of "India Green Building Council". Armstrong participates in the development of LEED (leadership in Energy and Environment Design) Rating System. They also reuse waste materials in new ceilings. Raw materials of ceilings are renewable and abundant in nature. Up to 100 percent of the packaging is made from recycled material. Almost in the all the process, the water is recycled, only minimal amount of water is discharged only after proper treatment. All mineral and steel tile plants have been certified with ISO 14001. Armstrong ceilings conserve electricity consumption by high light reflectance.

| Mr. Arjun Shahani is the Managing Director of Armstrong World Industries (India) Pvt. Ltd, which has parent company in USA. He is responsible for guiding the overall strategic and corporate efforts of the company including corporate governance, HR policies, Finance and Administration, Company Logistics and Policy Framing. as a senior director - Luminaries Business (Lighting Division). He has served in numerous capacities. As such, he has had extensive, successful, hands-on experience in every key area including sales, marketing, design, vendor management, purchasing and finance at the division level. His accomplishments included spearheading critical projects like - strategic restructuring with professional lighting channel along with BCG, resulting in a 20 percent plus CAGR growth for the channel. He also undertook and led a new business project on display tubes in India for the erstwhile components division within Philips.
In 2005, Mr. Shahani was the recipient of the 'Star Performance' award, from Global Philips Lamps CEO. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli and Masters Degree in Marketing Management (MMM) from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.
