A Ray of Hope

Inclusive and Futuristic Vision for India

Let me move away this time from my customary editorial. India, recently witnessed one of the rarest happenings in its democratic setup and responsible for this unprecedented shift was the Indian youth.

Three cheers to the Indian democracy! Three cheers to the Indian youth! This is the momentous occasion.

The Indian Young for the first time came out in such large numbers exercising their mandate giving the right direction to the country’s political scenario.

The mandate, I am sure, is not for a particular party. The mandate is for the new resurgent India that is Transparent, Clean, Non-corrupt, Advanced and for Indians. When I say ‘for Indians’, illegal country hoppers from across the borders are excluded. India not only should revive its past glory but radically reconsider many of its old strategies evolved in the name of nation development. All said and done, there shall still be a critical mass of human species who shall bungle up all the proactive steps and try to push the country into a prolonged confusion, terrifying crisis and darkness of incertitude.

In a historic speech delivered by Shri Narendra Modi, prior to his becoming the PM of India, a comprehensive, development oriented, inclusive and futuristic vision for India was placed before the nation. He affirmed that his idea of India was - "a nation where truth and non-violence ruled supreme, where there is a free flow of thoughts and where all faiths are treated equally." His idea of India is, "a nation where everyone lives peacefully and harmoniously as one family, where there is prosperity and happiness, where service of the poor is nothing less than service of God, where the Matru Shakti of the nation is honoured and where the Motherland is superior to heaven."

These are actually the pronouncements of India's ancient approach to a progressive civilization and not new. As long as we do not learn to accept and respect our fellow human beings in a true sense, as long as we don’t learn to live collectively, such pronouncements remain elusive on a high pedestal of human ego continuously barring us to look beyond our selfish accomplishments.

"Elaborating further on the governance vision, he talked about the importance of skill development. He opined that there should be a separate court for black marketers and they should be punished at the earliest for their wrongs. He assured that all the relevant steps would be taken, including forming the right laws, task forces required to ensure that black money is back from abroad and it is used for the welfare of the poor. He stressed on giving importance to next generation infrastructure including railways, gas grids, integration of river, optic fibre network etc. He called for seeing urbanisation as an opportunity and not as a threat. Shri Modi talked about twin cities and satellite towns that are modern and involve latest technology. He called for giving special focus to agro-infrastructure.

On the health sector, Shri Modi commented that the focus should be on wellness instead of curing sickness. Mincing no words about the fact that dignity of women is not always respected, Shri Modi said that the days of seeing women as homemakers have gone, now it is time to see them as nation builders." He also spoke about creating 'Brand India' with 5 Ts- talent, tradition, tourism, trade and technology.

On education, Shri Modi asked why cannot every state have an IIT, IIM and AIIM?- It certainly can happen and in fact should. But is that the solution? If we want to see 'India Young' with full of positive energy properly channelized by 2025, as demographically projected, it is now, that we address our school children and make them aware of the Future Race they are designated to be. It is in this direction, a new national education policy be evolved, a new paradigm shift be brought in, with an overall development of a child in mind.

Let me close with an optimistic note-India shall rise to its original glory.
