JCB's Backhoe Loader elevated construction to new level

It's proven that mechanization improves the efficiency of construction processes. In this view, Mr. Amit Gossain, EVP - Marketing, Business Development and Corporate Affairs, JCB India Ltd. tells Built Expressions that mechanization enables easy handling of the material during construction and completion of projects within stipulated timelines.

JCB India Ltd, a construction and agriculture equipment major is a fully owned subsidiary of JC Bamford Excavators Limited, UK. It manufactures 24 different machines in seven product types including Backhoe Loaders, Loading Shovels, Tracked Excavators, Compactors and Telehandlers.

In the past few years, the Indian construction industry has moved from manual labour towards mechanization. It is proven that mechanization greatly increases productivity, quality and safety in construction and therefore, established a strong foothold in all the verticals. Corroborating this, Mr. Amit Gossain, EVP - Marketing, Business Development and Corporate Affairs, JCB India Ltd., says, "Given the complex nature of projects, demand for technologically advanced and versatile construction equipment is now more evident than ever. At JCB, technological upgradation is a constant process. A company needs to constantly innovate to cater to the varied needs of the customer and to stay ahead in the market."

Among all the construction machineries, JCB Backhoe Loader is the most used construction equipment at Indian Construction sites. Over 30 years back, JCB introduced the concept of this revolutionary machine and since then, it has become the highest selling Construction Equipment in India due to its versatility and multifunctional applications. Regarded as the most fuel efficient Backhoe Loader on earth, this machine provides the best return on investment to its customers.  Very recently, JCB introduced a new version of JCB 3DX - the new “JCB 3DXcellence” Backhoe Loader.

At EXCON 2013, JCB is planning to showcase its latest made-in-India, made-for-India machines since, the is a platform to offer customers on site equipment experience of the latest technology, products and services focusing on efficiency, productivity, environment, and safety.

For a country focused on infrastructural development, it is essential to mechanize its infrastructure processes. "We feel there is a lot of scope for mechanization especially in the material handling segment because mechanization leads to easy handling of the material during construction, completion of projects within stipulated timelines, increases productivity," adds Mr. Gossain. In the Material Handling Equipment segment, JCB offers a world class product - The Liftall (pick & carry cranes). This machine has simplified the overall process of material handling up to a great extent. JCB entered this segment with two models with capacity of 12 tonnes cranes i.e. Liftall 1253 and Liftall 1202 and recently added a new 15T model - JCB Liftall 1553. JCB also offers three models of Loadall (531-70, 535-140, 540-170) also known as Telehandlers. The two models i.e. 540-170 and 535-140 are used for general construction applications like lifting and erection of sheds for factories, in ports and tunneling etc.

The Indian Construction Equipment industry, according to the CII - Accenture Vision 2020 report, is expected to reach US$20 - 25 billion by 2020 and the industry requires over 3 million skilled personnel (over and above the workforce employed at the present) by 2020. JCB aims at bridging the widening gap by setting up Operator Training Centers in different parts of the country. JCB currently operates 11 fully functional OTC’s and till date and has trained over 20000 young men as operators, thus creating livelihood for many. Many young operators, with their entrepreneurial spirit, invested in JCB machines and are today proud owners. Supporting the CII mission of "Making India the skills Capital of the World", JCB played a key role in rolling out the skills initiative in Chhindwara which has been regarded as one-of-its kind. The centre is a multi training centre which aims at creating a talent pool of trained manpower.
