The entire credit for this very rare and successful delicate operation encourage and promote goes to Dr. CS Viswanatha. with required support, hit I cannot forget his total involvement with me for several days (1978) up to late us politely and set us with night in my house, fnalizing the design of a fve million gallons Water Reservoir professional targets.” with 5 meter high concrete vertical folded plate walls, used for the frst time in the world on report, with top RCC Conical shells on 8 metre square grid resting Dr. R V Ranganath, on RCC Columns, beams and footings, for storing treated water for Bangalore Dean (academics), BMS College Water Supply and Sewerage Board. of Engineering When Gangaram building in the Majestic area, Bangalore, under construction collapsed (1984) when the loading on the main concrete column which triggered the collapse was hardly 25% of the design load, due to bad workmanship, he was largely responsible for declaring the civil Engineer who designed the building, is not responsible for the collapse of the building after going through the calculations. The outcome of this incident forced the civil engineers to mobilize Association of Consulting Structural Engineers during 1985 under the guidance of Dr.CSV and myself. As he was very busy as an Engineer member of the enquiry commission, the responsibility of leading the formation of Association of Consulting Structural Engineers as President was thrust on me, which was later re-named as Association of Consulting Civil Engineers and Dr.CSV took over as its President, at the expiry of my term as President, who led the organization to its present growth of nearly four thousand members, with branches in Sixteen major cities all over India. During early 1980’s he got his doctorate in Structures, declined a job offer from Tata Consulting Services and opted to rejuvenate Tor Steel Research Foundation in India, (TRFI) in which he succeeded extremely well. As the ownership position was not clear, Dr. CS Viswanath, decided to steer clear of the problem, formed a separate entity called Civil Aid Consulting Company as the head of the new outft and ultimately merging it with a global company in the interest of all the staff members and stake holders. Personally I have lost an excellent life-long friend of mine. I sincerely wish, ‘May his Soul Rest in peace’.” Mr. HK Nanjunda Swamy Past President, aCCE (I) Vol: 3 Issue: 11ol: 3 Issue: 11 November 2014vember 2014 Built Expressions PG 15Built Expressions PG15 No V
